if you've ever been on KY's mailing list, you've probably gotten some amusing postcards. here are a few that i had scanned already. i know i have more. when i find them (i moved at the end of january and things are still not quite all unpacked), i'll post some more.

hey you! i know we talked about trading once before and then i kinda spaced and never followed up with you about that. sorry! but at least you'll get things this way and it sure beats the post office.

which, if i'm not mistaken, has just been added to the KY myspace!

i suppose i should have pointed out that KY often prefaced "rock radio" with a little snippet of pink floyd's "mother" (from _the wall_). if i remember correctly, the july 2001 shows was the earliest performance of the song and the october gigs were the first time "mother" was added to the beginning.

or maybe the rooster. ;)

interesting to see how the tone of the "middle america" songs have changed over time: sing like the mississippi > heartland soul > under a land-locked moon.

i'm not but i did record a bjork show in 2003 and i'm pretty sure that it ended up on the hub via dan lynch.

turns out that these two shows are already transfered over from minidisc so i'll get those shared first. however, i won't get a chance to do so until this weekend.

thanks for that! i thought i snagged that file when it was up on the myspace but, if i did, i sure can't find it now...

yeah, it's a shame that's one of the unlistenable recordings since it's a pretty nifty song live. i'm just reluctant to circulate unlistenable stuff since it could reflect poorly on KY and it's nothing that she's responsible for.

plus, i don't want to have to pay for hearing aids for you guys! ;)

that is the plan, with the exception of the really bad recordings. when i mean CRAP, i mean CRAP. as in unlistenable. i only kept the recordings in case of songs never being played again...and for the most part, they was the case -- though it would be cool to have a decent recording of "BOOMerang" live.

incidentally, i was consulting with a friend who went to many of these shows with me (as well as some others) and the only other song he recalled being played once and never again is something called "seventeen dream". i either missed that show or didn't record so i've no trace of it.

been going through the old minidiscs and noting setlists and, when bad, sound quality of the shows i've recorded over the years. below is what i've gone through so far. i'll update it as i continue to go through the rest of them. the current version of the file will always be available on google documents at http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dc33z842_0cj7sq4gs
