***GOLD STAR!***

I can't explain how excited I am. The "Album Release Show" for April 1st (hopefully not a joke) is an 18+ show, so my 20 year old ass can attend!

Finally! I get to see the band that helped reignite my love for music (seriously)! And I totally plan on fulfilling my big-bag-of-Sour-Patch-Kids-promise I made to KY if I were able to see them live! There will even be a pretty bow on it (If I can find one)!

Any body else attending for sure?

I am finally complete...

I love that. I love when she extends an ending or makes it a little different.

Reveille Lyrics

August 30, 2009 by evelynchrist

I recently found the non-live version of Reveille on the Moz forums. I've loved it since acquiring the live versions from here. I just can't figure out the first two lines of the song... and a few others lol. If anyone else knows, please post!

We are hot under????
In a decay project squall????
Right!
We are shaking scared and starving
Eating lead paint off the walls
Thats right thats right!

It is somewhat ill-conceived
That we can be so fat and still not get our meat/meet(?)
How can we be underfed
Our daily calorie count in the high thousands

And thats when full is void and null
You must think we're dull
For when you sound the(?)
Reveille!

We are innocent bystanders
Set(?) by shopping malls
Right
We are taking back our airwaves
Here's a wake-up call
That's right that's right!

I have come to understand
That when we press the power off its in our hands/heads(?)
Who would think we could have our fill
Of underage tarts singing words that vaguely thrill

And thats when full is void and null
You must think we're dull
For when you sound the(?)
Reveille!
We've had enough of the fluff
I'm a loaded gun, I've just begun the(?)
Reveille!

Hey yall. I've been away a bit. The show was so much fun and so awesome. I was able to have a conversation with Kristeen and speak to Jef and theyre really down, cool people. The performance was fabulously good. I wish I had a camera :(. And yes I got to meet Nick and a few cool peeps :) All I have to say is: I need more KY; WE WANT MORE!!!

My KY shattered mirror shirt is no more but the mosaic letters have survived. I'm not sure what to do with them so I'm asking for suggestions! Anything is welcome.

Re: NY show mentioned in Onion?

:( I'm confused. I would risk life and limb to see them again.... maybe I'll drop by tomorrow night to see what's good at Santos'....

That review is lazy journalism; plain and simple, and way too predictable.

Re: KY in St. Louis @ Off Broadway~ Protestant Video

June 8, 2009 by evelynchrist

You make a really good point Elliot.
I always took the song to be more on the sardonic side rather than the literal. Especially because of the way that she pronounces "protestant."

My wild-shot-in-the-dark-no-research mini analysis of the ending phrase is:

Maybe the phrase came from the idea of being back in her hometown, the place where it all started. "You'll have to work hard" is what comes to mind when you start a band and eventually decide to move away from home to further pursue an unconventional career. "You'll have to work hard;" which she has, and here she is back at the beginning... That, paired with "Protestant" being about her growing up, in a sense, in this religious conventionality where the choice is either Catholic or Protestant....

This is probably a stretch but it's just what I thought of initially...

Yeah KYK, I saw that tattoo somewhere on myspace too actually, its cute.

I'm thinking of the KY from the button. I love that button. I wear it everyday like a badge of honor haha. When I first saw it, it was like a mind trick. I couldn't make out the letters KY exactly. It kinda looks like a shield or an eye to me. I love the ambiguousness of it. Also I love hologram. :D Hmmm, maybe in the future there will be hologram tattoos.... awesome.

I can't stop watching this video, so I had to put it on my myspace.

Amazing! I love that ending! It felt so raw; very beautiful. I live for the music those two make. I'm entertaining the idea of a KY tattoo... this recorded performance is pushing me to make the idea real

Re: Radio show June 4th

June 5, 2009 by evelynchrist

How is it that I have to listen to the last 10 minutes of a lady reading about girls and wolves plus an hour of other-music+etc but they couldn't let "Life's Not Short..." play out to the end? Fie on KDHX and their librarian shenanigans!

Other than that, it was an awesome show with a cool little interview with funny anecdotes.

Love goes out to KY (as usual) :)
