I know the hardcopies will be with us soon, but yeah, I went ahead and bought it. I'm enough of a disc-and-liner-notes sentimentalist to get the CD, but not to wait a few more days if I could hear the songs now. :D
Actually, maybe they'll be here sooner than I thought - I hadn't yet checked MySpace; TV says they are ready for shipping, look gorgeous, and are going out pretty much now.
I like how he signed the post "Proud Father..." It must've hurt to give birth to something like that.
I admit I now have mixed feelings about buying it on iTunes, even though I'm sure I wasn't the only one who'd been checking for the past several days. I was looking forward to the excitement of getting the disc in the mail, hearing it for the first time with the case in my hands, seeing all the packaging (Orphans' Sacajawaea dollar disc set the mood of the album right away)...ah, whatever, it was months of listening before I saw a copy of Meet Miss Young, and somehow it still means the world to me. I'm going to start blasting Strippers now.
I bought it today and can't get enough---nice surprise to see this there! I have the CD coming too, and will probably buy another one at the show on 4/1---she's worth supporting. I am speechless over how fantastic this release is---KY and Jeff really belted this one out of the park---not ONE bad song.
I am VERY excited for this! I can't wait to get a copy!
Lily Sincere is gorgeous, the instrumental I mean. Well, both.
How do you like the changes in the tempo in Keyboard Like a Gun???
(puppiesarejustreallycute)
Yeah I totally couldnt resist!!!! I just bought it!!!!! I'm soooooooo deathly excited to listen! And I agree tremoundously Nick, I'm absolutely buying another copy at the show. Breasticles all over again lol. I would gladly pay twice for this! Especially before the 1st! Thanks Rachel for the heads up!
On a side note: Does anyone know how to get that STUPID "explicit" red tag off my itunes track? I'm trying not to get into a rant about that because I'm enjoying the album way too much!!!!
I think my favorites are Lily Sincere (St. Cyr tribute, or something?) Hey Rach, who was she do you know?
I'm so in love with the piannah.
And my other favorite of the moment is If You Marry Him.
Hey Ev:
Go to Edit, Preferences, Parental Control, and deselect the box that says 'Show content ratings in library'
That should get rid of those explicit symbols.
KYk do you mean who Lili St. Cyr was? She was a burlesque performer.
Is it just me, or does If You Marry Him sound kind of punky when the drums really pick up? Piano punk? Maybe I just have weird ideas of punk?
No, I think they're very punk drums. I think they're very punk people! It's in the brain, not the fingers. Necessarily.
KyK, I like the speed changes. I also like them on "Son of Man" when she sings "Son/I gave my all to you/you took my best and left."
I only really listened to it once, but the beginning ("Son! Son!") and the end ("when you're gone, gone, gone") of it have haunted me all day.
My CD arrived today (complete with a couple of extra goodies) and I must say that the package is GORGEOUS. Definitely order one even if you downloaded it.
After about 7 complete listens, I can honestly say this album is a MASTERPIECE. My wife and I own over 5,000 cds, lps, and cassettes, and only a few are 100% PERFECT.
I am in awe.
Thanks PX.
I guess she was married several times and tried to commit suicide several times. The two things probably related to each other. (ha)
And she had a trademark Flying G String.
ky---a sticker and 2 little buttons with what I guess is her new symbol on it.
