They were greeeaaatttt!!! They have buttons!! Jeff gave me 5, so I gave my sister one and plastered the others proudly on my bag. Everyone loved them and demanded an encore in San Antonio, so they played London Cry (I was sooo happy when people were signing up to be on their mailing list and talking to them and asking my sister and I about them!!). I think they played about 8 songs each night, but with the encore on day 2. And it was Baby Jeff's birthday, so KY pointed it out and I think the crowd offered to buy him some drinks later. Someone told him to cheer up. I recorded some and took some piccies, so hopefully they turned out alright. I'll post them later. And Kristeen was kind enough to listen to my dopey love-gush and hugged me and said my sister looked cute. She was so nice. It was so cool! During their first show she said hi to me in the middle of their set. I must have been in a state of shock or something, because I only managed to wave. They were both small crowds, but I hope they don't think playing here was a total waste. Both nights were the best shows I've ever been to (!!!!) and I will surely remember everything about them forever. Especially when Baby Jeff waved between the other bands' sets. It was hilarious!

Chrissy, that is so cool!

I think it's so great that they recognize their fans and would say hi to them in the middle of the set.

...dammit I want to make a fool of myself in front of them!

I will surely include pictures of the buttons. I had to explain to my sister for 20 minutes how they said "KY". You will see what I mean.

I got one of those buttons with my copy of Orphans. Its disappearance haunts me like Phil Spector.

I can't come to the LA shows. The understanding of this has come only in phases.

The shows are on my coast, but with the state of my finances, they may as well be in New York. I can get down to SF for free for various reasons, but LA is impossible; I don't know anybody there to stay with, can't afford a hotel, and even if I set my mind on it now, I've let work trap me here in the Pacific Northwest this week because I gave up before, and the rates are skyrocketing at this notice.

I'm just posting this almighty BITCHWHINE because I figure if anyone will understand, you all will. It's not the band's fault and really, I should tell myself it's not mine, but to tell the truth, as long as I'm actually *alive*, I could've worked out some extreme measure before it was too late.

Barring catastrophe, I'm sure I'll see them again and presumably be alive on that occasion as well. But seriously, to all members of this board who may not be adults in the eyes of the law: nothing about getting older makes music less important, so don't listen to anyone who says so.

I feel for ya, Rachel. If my friend hadn't just moved to Austin for school (slept on her floor) I probably would have missed them both times. Or at least slept in my car for 3 days.

Here's one of the few (crummy, shakey, other negative terms) videos I took from the first night.

(The second night they played most of the same songs and I wanted to pay more attention, as I find recording and taking pictures is distracting, so most are from Austin.)

Here is SON OF MAN!!!!
(I know, I should have zoomed in. If I stood any closer to the stage, I would have looked even weirder [but I should have anyway].)

The rest here:

And also one (another will be added soon) on my sister's page:

And I'm going to put the pictures on my flickr, so I'll post the link when I'm done.

Haha...that top's awesome. It reminds me obviously of Klaus Nomi, but also very 40s musical.

I've got a 60s wedding dress with similar sleeves, but sadly mine are not quite so ectoplasmic!

Rachel; that resonates so much truth with me and I'm sure with everyone else on this board. I'm sorry your situation wasnt ideal for being able to catch KY live. Your passion still shows though, and thats what counts when all is said and done.

Chrissy; thanks for the vids and for your pilgrimage to Austin lol!

Also, on her shirt, she had the quote, "Men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses." -Dorothy Parker. P.S. she first came on with her coat and glasses on (you can see in one) with her ruffly cuffs sticking out and it reminded me of a brilliant yet mad European composer, playing wildly.
