The Human Kind or Devil Girl for me are her two most emotional songs.

Yesterday's Future Man?
For me, it's the one that captures, really, how the future(our present) never lived up to the "promises"(was it only teasing?) shown as being possible via the super-charging motivational and inspiring flow of music...
Bah.
If I may now segue: I am wondering if This Is The Dawn Of My D-Day is extolling the beauty of escapism via fucking? If so, -I've had enough. it's not enough. get me off!- is one of the best double entendres eva!!
Now I'm gonna meander: I learned a new word: symmetria. Essentially, this is a perfect balance achieved through disbalance, or opposites/opposing elements.
KRISTEENYOUNG, for me, epitomizes an audio/visual example of this: female/male, electronic/non-electronic, standing/seated, vocal/silent, ka-blah-blah-blah...
Oh, the tape on the hand? Lodger? Since it's on her left hand... Or maybe like a boxer?

You have many bright thoughts. I never thought of D-Day that way right through, and always thought it was about a heroic new beginning with a fucking subtext, but it DOES work that way. (I love the last few lines of that song especially.)

Lodger? I don't know my Bowie album covers so I never knew that before you said it. I think both of those ideas make a lot of sense.

Slightly tangentially, how come the 'lyrics' section of PTYC has the end of Human Kind cut off?  It's missing:

And you think that I have told my 56th lie,
Well I know that it's no comfort at all to know
I'm doing the best that I can.

Less tangentially, I can't decide.  Every week it's a different song.  I wish at times that KY made less beautiful music, so I could enjoy other artists more again.  I used to discover a new exciting artist every couple of months.  I'm telling ya, y'all don't know what it's like being male, middle class and white...  Frown

There's a coiple of lyrics incomplete or missing entirly (touch Tongues).

I've come to a conclusion that The Human Kind is the most emotional song I've ever heard.

No idea why this was overlooked, thanks. Touch Tongues has also been added.

Thanks.

OK now it's a tie between The Human Kind and The Sweetest Freedom.

I think The Sweetest freedom........................

I think Buddy Boy is pretty emotional. That kind of determination turned lost desperation I think is pretty intense and touching. What do I do now, sleep or shout?!

That's funny, Chrissy - I was just getting ready to quote that part: "What do I do now, sleep or shout?!"

"....It's all the same to me" ..... I can't fully imagine the intense frustration they must go through. But listening to the story through this song helps me to imagine it.

What blows my mind is her ability to create it in the mind without being too wordy or inflated. I wonder if song-writing is easy for her or not. It seems to me she would have to be so skillful to be able to use minimal amount of words, and yet express everything she wants to, from beginning of the story to the end, and do it within such defined limits, set to a beautiful dissonant melody and sub-melodies....

Yeah! It makes one appreciate her abilities even more. Writing meaningful lyrics is hard (I imagine, based on the one time I thought I could be a musician and wrote some reeeeally horrible lyrics).

Exactly KYk! I love her so much for that. I think another great exapmleof that is

"I imagines the love
and I imagine the freedom
and I imagined everything working out.
But it's all just imagined"

So mush power and emotion, such a sense of dissappointment an dloss in four little lines. She IS the best songwriter.

Not sure about whether or not they have the freedom, or if everything's working out, but they're getting some love, huh.

I don't know about SONG---but the bridge in PROGRAMME X is so intense it makes my heart race (the part where she says, "No, I will not listen to you . . .")

Yes, I'm also fond of the end of that song, with the calm, "There's worse to come."

I think (BIAJ) Imagined is the most emotional. Although, He's Sickened By My Crude Emotion is pretty emotional: "I just want to scream oh I love you I love you I love you... He laughs... He says he's sickened by my crude emotion." That part always gets to me. She loves this person and he mocks her feelings. I can SO relate to that. And You Must Love Me: "Why should I spare your feelings when no one spares mine? Can you spare a feeling? Because I'm surely losing mine. Bruises on my wrists. How can I resist?" Honestly, I'm sitting here thinking that all of Kristeen's songs are very emotional. But to say which one is MOST emotional? Only she can answer that. It would be interesting to learn after she has sung her songs so many times, which ones still 'get' to her.
