On the Discography link from the home page, under the "Orphans" album, it says Label: "Test Tube Baby". Is that a real label? Being nerdy as I am, (thanks for saying I'm not Tamari) I googled aforementioned "Test Tube Baby" Label but found nothin.
There's my little bit of information contribution for the day! (rolling eyes)
you are on the case, KYK!
good find.
in any case, its a cool name for a possibly imaginary corporation?
when the heck is this cd coming out, anyway?
are they drawing the cover sleeves for each and every one?
(only joking). just impatient. maybe we've heard most of the songs already, though?
I think we have heard most of it... How many songs on a album, ten right?
New ones:
Stop Thinking
You Must Love Me
Protestant
Depression Contest
Halfway Across the Atlantic Ocean
He's Sickened By My Crude Emotion
Comfort Was Never a Goal
Everybody Wants Me to Cry - has anyone heard this yet?
We are missing maybe 2 we haven't heard yet.
I think it'll be a pretty long album, though. "Enemy" and "Breasticles" each have 14-15 tracks, and I think the others are twelve except for "X" whose concept limits it to ten, so this wouldn't be too out of the ordinary.
I just went and found that Email Kristeen wrote the list way back before the O2 show - it listed a bunch of unheard songs that would be on the album ("Son of Man," "I Won't Be Home For Christmas," "If You Marry Him," "Duet" and "Keyboard Like A Gun") and named "The Depression Contest," "Stop Thinking," "Atlantic Ocean" and "Everybody Wants Me To Cry" as being among other inclusions we've already heard. Maybe a couple of those will be cut, but I'm guessing there are still surprises in store.
I've heard Everybody Wants Me To Cry and have a bootleg, but the album will be coming soon probably, so I think I'd just as soon be lazy about it.
Yeah, the Test Tube Baby name goes all the way back to "Enemy." I always assumed it was their own one-band label, like the one (New Hormones) that Buzzcocks formed to self-release "Spiral Scratch," but I don't know the exact deal. All I know is that the copyright is attributed to it in the liner notes.
Cool!!
Wouldn't be great if she did the Bowie cover of Conversation Piece at their gigs....
and I really liked "Sing Like the Mississippi"
Yeah, Test Tube Baby is like... yeah their own label. A name encompassing their copyrights and publishing since they have to do it themselves.
Great name, I think.
Oh my God, I LOVE "Sing Like the Mississippi"! They should definitely release that. And "Killing Time"... and everything from Meow.
It's a cassette they sold at early shows. It helped them get the record deal to record Meet Miss Young...
The untitled song she posted a while back was from it. I don't know what else was on it, but it'd be great to get a better quality version of Untitled... and I'd always go for demos.
were you there, way back when?
if so, wow, pretty cool!
Oh, how I wish I was! I was seven back then!
No, that's what Kristeen told me about it.
At some point were you able to record Meow cassette onto a cd and then onto your hard drive as a .mp3 file? Cuz Meow is gold and you have to preserve it.... do they even make cassette players anymore?
I'm not suggesting that you download it to the web or anything... I would never swipe a free mp3 anyway.... noooooooo way.
OK, I have.
So you're saying that Mississippi WAS recorded like in a studio or whatever and was on that tape? What else was on it? Everything is Mine.. ? Must.. hear.. tape!
I wonder what the odds are of finding one.. Everyone's probably trashed their innocent little cassettes by now. :(
If I had it I would most definitely would. ;)
I would have long ago, I love doing that stuff. I love ripping my vinyls.
I wish I had it
cries
. Hopefully she'll leak it all in the future.
Ok, not that I don't like people thinking I know everything, but I don't. I have no idea what else what on Meow.
...but I really hope ...Mississippi was recorded somewhere along the line. It could be easily done now, as I'm guessing she still has the music that auto-played in the gigs.
Oh, and Killing Time isn't from Meow either.
Just the untitled song she posted a while ago.
