Sad but true.

I seriously doubt she made money opening for Morrissey.
Thank God TV works on spec.

An "official" street team may not exist, but I'm doing what I can to get the word out locally here in Indianapolis for the September show. I was thinking about making up some show bills / fliers and getting them posted around town and handed out. It can't hurt to spread the word.

I wish I had a show to promote around here. Yet I do make sure and tell pretty much everyone about her and how amazing she is! <3
I scanned the Enemy cover and printed it and it was really big and beautiful; and I once had a dream I printed tons of them and went around town at two in the morning and posted them all about. It was lovely, and I'd totally do it with a modern picture... maybe that of them in front of the tin foil wall. Hmmmm...
By the way, who else agrees that a vinyl issue of Breasticles would look FUCKING amazing?!

Yeah, talent tends to reveal itself. I don't know if Enemy sounds exactly like she wanted it to, but it SOUNDS like it sounds exactly like she wanted it to; it has its own aesthetic. Label money and professional production couldn't have given it an aesthetic if there hadn't been one already.

(I just made an irrelevant chime-in post which has nothing really to do with the question of self-releasing vs. indie labels for non-mainstream musicians, and everything to do with the fact that I enjoy Enemy, sorry)

what does the cryptic message on the myspace page refer to?
what activist? did i miss something?

It looks like an online personality test result, like the kind they used to have on The Spark, with names rather than letters/numbers for the different types. ("The Activist," "The Ad Exec," "The Adventurer," "The Asshole").
"What does the cryptic message on the myspace page refer to?" is the ultimate question that sums up the Internet.

Oh that's fine. I love Enemy as well. Chime-in posts about Enemy for everyone!
I love how there are like ten tangents on every topic here.
No KY Merch > T-shirts > IS KY ANTI-MERCH? > Aesthetic vs. $$$ > Mainstream vs. Indie (aka. Why isn't she on a label>) > Enemy wasn't released on a label and it sounds great! > We should start a street team, guys! > Something about my obsession with her cover art (I still think a vinyl of breasticles would look like heaven) > Me talking about how I love how we get off topic.
...KY fans are the best.

I guess all I was saying was that seems the artistic reasons to be on a label are invalid in KY's case - she already has vision, the right collaborators and full creative control. And as for the business pros and cons, I don't really understand them, so I couldn't possibly say.

Exactly. She is already perfect. The only reason it would be good for her to get a label is to get wider distribution, and maybe a better touring schedule; but honestly, look how far she's come already!

OK... I am a nerd, I know.
Here is a link with information on what a record label does...

no you're not, thanks!
well, the only thing i think is that they'd be able to afford to tour more extensively.
it must get very expensive.

Yes i can.

...yes IT can.
Sorry for making you think I was expensive.
