Has anyone heard this song before?
It's at this link: http://www.myspace.com/bestofallthings
It's on auto-play so you'll hear it right away.
It's gorgeous, as always...

Never heard it. Thanks for linking! I like the quality of Kristeen's voice in it.
Yeah I heard it a while ago. It's been on Limewire for a while now. Yes, it is great. :)
I would like to hear more of her live covers, especially the Hazel O'Connor song. Sadly, that stuff is probably unrecorded and in quiet graves...
Of course, if this track was on limewire, there might be more tracks from that show, but I have a lot of paranoia about P2P. I'll just stream this one another time.
wow, never heard this before.
by the way, this is a cover of a david bowie song called Conversation Piece.
thanks!
I hadn't either and I didn't even know the name of the song... I found the lyrics online. Here they are:
I took this walk to ease my mind
To find out what's gnawing at me
Wouldn't think, to look at me,
that I've spent a lot of time in education
It all seems so long ago
I'm a thinker, not a talker
I've no-one to talk to, anyway
I can't see the road
for the rain in my eyes
I live above the grocers store,
owned by an Austrian
He often calls me down to eat
And he jokes about his broken English,
tries to be a friend to me
But for all my years of reading conversation,
I stand without a word to say
I can't see the bridge
for the rain in my eyes
And the world is full of life
Full of folk who don't know me
And they walk in twos or threes or more
While the light that shines above the grocer's store
investigates my face so rudely
And my essays lying scattered on the floor
Fulfill their needs just by being there
And my hands shake, my head hurts,
my voice sticks inside my throat
I'm invisible and dumb,
no-one will recall me
And I can't see the water
through the tears in my eyes
i have heard the bowie version before....its also wonderful.
i'm not sure its available on any album, it was a very early single/b side.
it must be on some compilation somewhere - i have it from a friend, somehow.
I never thought I'd hear KY with an acoustic guitar accompaniment. Pretty interesting!
It's from her show at the The Way Out Club in St. Louis in '02. There's an mp3 link on kristeenyoung.de (http://kristeenyoung.de/eng/Recordings/bootlegs.htm).
...I really want all them bootlegs
drools
.
It would be cool to hear her cover Ashes to Ashes, I think.
I have the bootleg from the show she did in STL at the Way Out with Tony V, I'll post it in the download section on Monday when I have faster internet access.
THANK YOU, THESTSP!
