And I think they're perfect. They capture Kristeen's voice and their musical style as much as anything they've done, or more.
My expectations for this album are EXTREMELY HIGH.

I think what I mean is dignity. When I first saw KY perform I had the most intense impression of natural dignity -something tremendously stately, half-hidden within something chaotic and almost crazed- and at first (and second and third) play, these recordings have that in them, immediately visible and with no stretches for it. Of course this is elsewhere in their recorded work, all over the place, but I've never heard it so concentrated before. If the rest of the album sounds anything like this, the idle listener may shatter on impact.
I know this is turning into hyberbole, and that can prejudice people dangerously to what you're describing, but I'm talking to the already-converted so I assume everything's okay. It is true, though, that you almost have to come upon this music accidentally to understand its power, and you have to be somewhat predisposed to the idea of crossing over your concept of great rock lead playing to the piano (shouldn't be that hard).
It's the music that matters -not "the rumors"- as the MySpace announcement for these songs said. I can't resist rumors unless I'm in the presence of music; rumors are what happens when we don't have immediate access to transcendent art. They're a form of entertainment we settle for when we're tired or bored or temporarily taken over by the dullness of working life, and don't quite have the energy to turn on Up The Bracket or Enemy or Back To Black and listen to them with our whole hearts and brains.
No one in their right mind would actually choose to pursue the cheap detective story/low-budget soap opera of "fandom" while they're feeling alive and music is an option.
I love these. So honest, and especially since they are diffrent from the tour versions.
Yeah, the changes and production things add a lot. I never even thought about what would happen if you slowed down "Depression Contest" slightly, which is why I'm not the virtuoso here.
It's interesting. Now I can actually understand the lyrics without having to look them up while listening to it. Plus all I had was an audio rip from Fearless TV which blew my eardrums out (why didn't anyone record that off the actual tv?).
I think because the TV show was only aired in a few select regions around the country. I remember talking about that in a KY LiveJournal community and none of us lived where it was being broadcast! Such despair, grief, panic, frenzy.. and then it was on YouTube and all was right in the world. It did, however, also blow my eardrums.
Agreed. I'm getting prepared to listen to this album for 5 straight months and little to nothing else. The production sounds perfect on these 2 songs.
I'm really excited about the album now as well. Does anyone know when the release date is going to be for the album?
Your expectations for this album are high??! So you are saying Kristeen's previous albums are Low-quality?! KY=Perfection! Every album, every song that i heard from this Insanely talented artist is friggin HIGH-Quality music! I can even tell a song i dislike!
