KRISTEENYOUNG have just announced that they will be performing at the O2 Wireless festival on July the 4th.

So does "be present" mean "just attend and not play"? They weren't listed yet. ??

Hi Briber,
I just noticed that there is a date conflict for the London shows on the main page of this website. On the left hand side it states June 4th, and on the right hand side it July 4th.

Of course :) Though I can't be recording the sets for you all, and I'll be too busy enjoying the moment to take notes, so I think I'll be no more descriptive than "it was awesome"... but sure! :)

I heard that Morrissey invited her to play there, is this true?

The press releases about Morrissey's bill at O2 have all been phrased to imply that he personally chose the artists who'd play on his day. No one's said directly, but it does look like his decision from a distance, given that even if she was playing that festival on that day by complete coincidence, his antipathy of last fall apparently did not stretch to saying "no" this summer. (And she didn't say no, either.)

Maybe there were more concrete rumors among his fans - I haven't read them. I'm betting they're just based on the same leap, if so, but who knows. (Why do I always answer questions I don't know the answers to? Somewhere, someone's reading this and thinking "Yes. -God knows why, really.")

I've been harping in more private fora about my joy that Morrissey has also brought in Dirty Pretty Things - he was such an early supporter of the Libertines (or were they supporting him...?) and apparently the association continues, Carl Barat-wise.

As for Morrissey and Kristeen, I'm glad about the festival. A quiet but triumphant bow, now that the air is clear, would be beautiful.

Thanks Rachel. When I saw that he had invited her to play at the festival I got excited. I saw it as a sign that MAYBE he would ask her to tour with him again. That would be great.

It would appear that Kristeen is headlining the O2/MTV stage on July 4th. Her slot's at 8:10 (please be on the e-mail list by now; there's been another update).

I hope the smaller stages shut down before the main one, as the Kristeen/Morrissey/National/New York Dolls (if you like that sort of thing) choice might be fatal to the right person.

Just got back in from the Wireless festival. Turned up at 11:30 and -then- looked at the ticket and saw it was a 14:00 open. A walk around Selfridges later and Lightspeed Champion opened it up. Most of the bands were much of a muchness.

Finally I'm standing at the O2 stage watching The Howling Bells, who were one of the better bands I saw, and KY walk into the side gate (the stage wasn't connected to the backstage areas, so it was quite funny seeing Kristeen sweeping through the crowd in a Victorian-style two-piece made of sparkles and six-pack rings).

They watched the band and then set up and started playing. I ashamedly don't recall the first two songs, but I know they played '9' and 'Mixed Kids' and 'This is the Dawn...', as well as Depression Contest and a song called 'Everyone Wants Me to Cry' or something very similar to that, from the upcoming album.

The audience wasn't huge, I guess it's to be expected from a pop festival where a fairly unknown band gets sandwiched between Beck and Morrissey on a different stage. They ended up overlapping the first three of Morrissey's songs over on the main stage and between the audience mostly leaving to go see him, and the stage manager pressing them to finish up, it seemed like they weren't getting the love they deserved.

I was doing my part.

So yeah, I have nothing yet to go on since it was my first time seeing them live, but I was just overwhelmed by how awesome it was.

Tomorrow night I think, and certainly hope, they will have much more than 30 minutes to play with, and I will let you know what I remember from it :).

I don't know if she was maybe going for some sort of clock thing or something, all this fashion stuff is way over my head. It had the words "Concrete Coat" on the collar and "Domine Timus" (I think) at the hem (you could only really see that when she fanned it out at the end of 9). And her hat kinda looked like a minute hand or something when she tilted her head forward, I couldn't read what it said on it.

"Concrete Coat" - could be a reference to her lyrics in "You Must Love Me" - Her concrete coat could be another reference to hiding her feelings, or emotions.... Just a guess, I dunno.

So, I placed all my feeling
under concrete skin.
Now, "nothing" 's the same as "something"
and only hand grenades get in.

"Domine Tirtius" means Masters of the Third Time, or something like that. "Domine Timeo" mean Masters of the Fear or Dread - ugh- I'm probably way off. But I couldn't find "Timus" ???

But I like to think that Latin phrase references Time, as if Time heals all wounds.
