To my knowledge, nobody has ever done a KY cover; except for that girl who played a few bars of "London Cry" on Youtube. I was wondering if any of you have done one? If not, we should.

I taught myself how to play "London Cry", even though I'm sure I'm completely off and my vocals are a joke, but I plan to record it and post it here sometime.

As I encourage everyone else to do.

It'd be VERY interesting to hear other takes on these songs. Personally, I am not the world's worst singer, but I'm total, 100% absolute balls at even Kristeen's most straightforward shouter. They all seem to require such an enormous range...

(I can just about get through "Under A Landlocked Moon," but it's a hollow victory because I'm not from the Midwest.)

Haha. I remember thinking once when I heard Valuable that there was finally a KY song I could kind of sing without sounding totally horrible!

I can kind of sing her. Having Björk and KY as, I'd say, my main vocal influences, I've gotten pretty good at "emotive" singing. Most things, especially London Cry are too high for me. I am happy to say I can pretty wonderfully pull off the ending of 9, maybe it's just me. Most songs are pretty easy. I like to Sing BOOmerang because I can whine like her, and Wake the Dead because it's pretty mid-range. For ...HI-TEK I mostly end up screaming... and spitting durring "obsessed with the breast/obsessed with effect", for some reason.

As for playing, songs such as BOOmerand and even The Human Kind seem easy enough, but I can't find how to play them. I mean, I don't try that hard and I'm deffinently not sufficiently trained well enough to, but... I kind of stumbled onto London Cry, but I don't think I play it exactly. But whatever, I doubt anyone could ever fully play her as she would. Plus THAT sound off The Orphans would pretty much be impossible to replicate unless you knew her exact mix. For London Cry I just use a piano/strings combo. And I really can't do much with my *coughprobablycirca80's* Casio. And even though I play drums, well, taught myself from listening to The White Stripes, I don't think I'll ever even try to play Baby Jeff's stuff... much too mind-blowing. *bows*

Wow... I ramble. I guess for a purpose though. Ever since I found out about her (seeing her with Morrissey), she's pretty much ALL I listen to, so I am constantly analyzing her music... and I have no life. ANYWAY, right now I'm grounded, and therefore have no personal internet access, but I will post it when I get it back. I'd really love to hear other people's stuff, too.

My sister can play Depression Contest in it's entirety, and bits of London Cry, and Kill The Father. Her vocals are another story. The music sounds pretty good when there's a drummer that plays with her.

That's amazing. You should post a video of it. I half figured out the little opening in Fishnet, but on an extremely shitty old keyboard, so it sounds off.

I can play The Depression Contest... kind of. It's just banging but it kind of sounds like it. I can play bits of The Human Kind, and I found out how to play (Don't Go) Back to School.

I can kind of play The Human Kind on the piano... I can pick up most hooks, but the chorus parts still escape me.

My Girlfriend can sing My T.V pretty decently, its her favourite song and she really tries to give her best..but she truly SUCKS! I really dont think anyone more talented that Kristeen that could cover her songs. So leave it alone....or you will end up sounding like Britney on Prozac. KY has an AMAZING vocal Range!

Of course no one could sound like Kristeen, except Kristeen. However, I would still think it would be fun if people showed their little renditions, no?

No shame, people, c'mon! ;)

The Only Person that could decently cover Kristeen is.....Tori Amos, or maybe Kate Bush. We can do it for fun :) But i'm a man so i would sound soooooo stupid trying to sing with that thin voice of Kristeen....i dont think i can even sing like that! I prefer listening to her great albums, its much fun...and its much safe for my reputation as a human being :0 !!

I'm going to try and record something this week. I finally got my internet back so I can post something. I think I'll do London Cry first, then Take Me after I figure out the chorus part. =)

edit:

Here is a bit from the first time I tried recording London Cry. I had just seen The Strangers so I felt like making it sound creepy... like it would fit in the movie. So I tweaked it. But the actual cover won't sound anything like this.
