Hi! Thanks! When I shoot digitally I use either the Canon 5D or Canon 400D -- I'm pretty sure I used the 400D for these ... it's really all about the lenses, tho, moreso than the camera body. I've invested in some good, fast lenses in order to shoot in low light situations.

Hahaha! Talent-filled veins, indeed.

I thought ppl might've seen it already because it used to come up if you searched for KY on eBay - some guy was trying to sell an autographed photo (the one you see in the pic) and this is his proof that it's authentic.

I don't think he ever sold the photo (it's hard when the artist meets people so casually; does anyone doubt they could get an autograph out of KY without an incredible amount of fuss?) but I would gladly have paid for this one. Sadly, it was explicitly identified as not for sale.

I just want to know what the occasion was for the star-spangled muumuu. Also, I love her honking great glasses, which I've glimpsed in person once or twice before and after shows.

No big deal if we've seen some of them before; this is a photo thread, anything goes. :)

I just noticed that the (cute) no-makeup photo is shot in front of a tinfoil wall, just like the crazy-angles publicity photoshoot from the Orphans era. Is this the "before" shot, or do they just have a tinfoil wall that they keep around in case they need it?

Oh I love her glasses, too. I wonder if she really needs them? I'm glad I got a pair that kind of matches them! Tee-hee..

I always thought it was like a 'before' shot. And I like the yellow eyeshadow up there.

actually, those are back from the Breasticles era, I love them! But in the sans make-up pic, even with pigtails, her hair looks shorter...

The no make-up photo is a favorite. There's all the defiance of a mug-shot.

The tinfoil photoshoot was from the Breasticles time?

indeed! and the pic of the London Cry single was used during the promotion of X

The neat thing about those older photos is the evidence of an artist following a trajectory of personal vision. Say, as opposed to:

Do you mind if I ask you how you went from music journalist to photographer with such a great list of people you've worked with?? You're site is really amazing. How do you get to be so successful in the business?

I knew about Tori and Alanis, but had no idea about Evanescence!

And yeah, I agree, that's part of why this thread is great. It adds a lot to be aware of the styles and outfits that go with the different musical periods. I wish there were video, even a little bit, of these gigs...

I also wish there were some OBLIGATORY TATTOO shots out there - I read about Kristeen writing this on her stomach and arms during the Enemy era, liked the idea a lot (especially since people emphasized that the words were really outsized and the effect of this quite dry and strange), and it seems to have been enough of a trademark that you'd think a pic would've surfaced. :(
